A group of 23 photographers in Tacloban City recently attended a short session on post processing with Photoshop, conducted by veteran photographer Dave Fowler.
Fowler, a Master Photographer and Master Craftsman in the US, is in the Philippines as volunteer photographer for the organization Alliance for Smiles (http://www.allianceforsmiles.org) which is doing free medical operations for children with cleft lips in Santiago City. This is the second year the Alliance for Smiles went to Santiago City, and also the second time Dave Fowler came to Tacloban to teach and share his knowledge to local photographers.
Fowler came to Tacloban City last January 2009 to hold a 2-day photography workshop which was attended by 40 participants. This year, his visit was a very welcome surprise as there was no notice of his coming until a week before his arrival date. Not letting this rare opportunity for learning pass by, the Camera Club of Leyte & Samar organized a half-day Photoshop session for the benefit of interested amateur and professional photographers. The session was without a course outline but it was interactive and specific techniques were taught. Starting at 2pm, the interaction ended around 6:00 in the evening. This activity was held at Calle Z.
The Camera Club of Leyte & Samar was able to conduct three basic photography workshops since its inception in the second half of 2009, and with this as a starter for 2010, it is looking forward to conducting more workshops to help budding photographers improve their skills.
