Visayas State University Celebrates 85 Years

The largest school campus in the country, and more popularly referred to as VISCA, VSU held its 85th Founding Anniversary celebration from August 1-11, 2009.

The agricultural school celebrated to the theme “Safer nutri-foods in a cleaner and greener environment for better health”. Highlights were trade fairs, floral exhibits, games and the annual rodeo show. It was the first time I ever saw a rodeo show live, and it was a spectacle which I watched with a mixture of awe and curiosity. I was in awe at the strength of the seemingly frail young girls trying to bring down beasts and I was curious about what animal right activists thought of such an activity. It was an interesting experience through and through.

Of course, no visit to Baybay is ever complete without sampling the scrumptious barbecue that is popular among townspeople and tourists alike.
